Dedicated Coppice Lodge Carers Scoop Regional Award

Staff at Coppice Lodge care home in Arnold, Nottingham, have been recognised amongst the best of East Midlands social care workers at the Great British Care Awards.  They scooped the ‘Care Home Team’ award at the regional finals last week after judges were impressed with their dedication and genuine efforts to fulfil residents’ aspirations and wishes.

The Coppice Lodge care team were shortlisted as finalists earlier this year after being selected from numerous entries by a team of judges from the East Midlands region.  They were called to interview in October where they impressed judges with their commitment, passion and enthusiasm.  Tracy Taylor, Care Manager at Coppice Lodge said, “Caring is more than just a job for us and I think this shone through in our interview.  We were asked how we feel we make a difference to our residents’ lives and we had so many examples and stories to tell that we went well over our time slot!”

The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work and care workers can be nominated by colleagues, relatives and residents.  The Coppice Lodge team, who care for up to 64 residents, were up against eight other care homes in the area at the glittering awards dinner last week.  Over 400 people from the social care industry saw them collect their award as a spokesperson from the Great British Care Awards attributed Coppice Lodge’s aspirational lifestyle to the win, stating: “From training programmes and internal promotions, to pop up restaurants and social Saturdays, the team have excelled in truly making peoples wishes come true”.

Tracy, Amanda Lancaster (Senior Carer), Angela Allen (Front of House Manager) and Samantha Kavanagh (Home Manager) represented the home at the gala dinner.  Samantha said, “I am so proud of the whole staff team at Coppice Lodge and thrilled they have got the recognition they deserve.  Every single member of my team puts our residents first to make Coppice Lodge a great place to live and this award has created a great buzz around the home.  We can’t wait for the finals next year to bring the National award home!”

Graham Freeguard, who has lived at Coppice Lodge with this wife since February this year said: “It is great to be living in a care home that has achieved such a prestigious award.  Being able to live here at Coppice Lodge with my wife means the world to me, and the fact that we have the support and care to be able to live as independently as possible is great.  We very much enjoy living here.”

The regional award is now proudly displayed in the home whilst the team await the National finals in March next year.  Coppice Lodge is operated by Ideal Carehomes and offers high quality care to older people in luxury surroundings on an inclusive fee basis, so residents can enjoy the modern facilities and activities without the worry of additional costs.
