A life-long West Midlands inhabitant became the first resident of Tipton’s newest care home last week, as Bloomfield Court of Central Avenue, opened its doors to 80 year old Mrs Jean Penn. Mrs Penn, who lived in the Great Barr area with husband Stanley for much of her life, and worked as a secretary at the local Handsworth Grammar School was accompanied by her daughters Margaret Westwood and Susan Freeth as she settled into her new environment. Lawrence Tomlinson, Ideal Care Homes’ Chairman was also on hand to greet Jean and her family in celebration of her first day at the home. The brand new facility, which is operated by Ideal Care Homes provides 47 beds for those living with dementia and offers state-of-the-art facilities including 100% en-suite accommodation, a hair dressing salon and sensory gardens.
